One of the unexpected delights of exploring Budapest is stumbling across the tiny bronze sculptures hidden throughout the city. These charming miniature statues are the work of Ukranian-born sculptor Mihály Kolodko, who has been quietly placing them in nooks, on ledges, and along pavements since 2010. Each one rewards the curious and the attentive — blink and you’ll miss them.
From a miniature Rubik’s cube to a tiny tank on a wall overlooking the Danube, Kolodko’s works are playful, witty, and full of personality. Spotting them became a highlight of our trip, turning an ordinary walk into a kind of treasure hunt.
