A bright sunny Easter Monday saw us venture out for a walk near Brancepeth Castle. While the sun was out, it was very windy and cold. We even got some snow, which you can see in the foreground of the castle picture.
Signs of spring were everywhere epitomized by the presence of lambs in the fields and this cute little baby rabbit taking shelter in the long grass.
Brancepeth Castle
Brancepeth Castle is a medieval castle near Durham tucked away from main road, so we’d never noticed it before. First constructed in the mid-12th century.
Still in use today as a private residence, it is open to visitors on a number of days each year and for public events.
Route (9.4KM)
An easy walk over gravel paths and roads. Though watch out for crazy drivers when walking along the road section. Always face oncoming traffic!
